To continue our celebration of BIPOC Women after the Film Festival on November 14, come spend a morning hiking with the Trailblazers of Women’s Wilderness and some of our local BIPOC heroes! They will be guiding us through a 4.5 mile hike with ~600 ft of elevation gain across red rocks to inspiring views. All adult women and non-binary people are welcome (not limited to BIPOC).

In this program, we’ll continue to unpack the stories that we heard at the Film Festival and what may have resonated with us through movement, nature, and community. And even if you couldn’t make it to the Film Festival, you’ll still be warmly welcomed! This event is open to everyone.

Women’s Wilderness will provide shuttling from Boulder.

  • Immersive fall exploration of the Red Rocks area in Jefferson County

Your Instructors:

Zeinab Rezaie (she/her) is an Afghan athlete and advocate who uses sport and storytelling to empower women and girls. A Fulbright Scholar and Impact MBA graduate, she made history in 2022 as the first Afghan woman to complete the Ironman 70.3 triathlon. Formerly a Program Manager with Free to Run, she continues to advocate for Afghan women’s rights and create opportunities for women and girls through sport.

Brooke Goudy (she/her) is an athlete and bicycle advocate who developed a love and enthusiasm for bikepacking after riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in 2021. She founded Rowdy Goudy, a health and wellness organization dedicated to introducing cycling to women of color, and redefining what it means to participate in active living. Her love for biking extends to conservation and advocacy for trails. She has served as a member of IMBA’s Trails are Common Ground, on the Denver Mayor Advisory board, and as a member of the Denver Parks and Recreation Technical Advisory Committee. Having a seat at these tables allows her to identify the communities’ needs, and prioritize opportunities to support equity, inclusion, and diversity in outdoor adventure sports.

Alexa (she/her/ella) grew up in Colorado, but her passion for the outdoors, conservation, and wildlife truly began when she attended the University of Colorado Boulder in 2020. Living near the Flatirons and the many natural landscapes surrounding Boulder, and being among the relatively small percentage of women of color who experienced those spaces, helped broaden her perspective on belonging, access, and impact in the outdoors. Since then, Alexa has had the honor of using her perspective and skills as an outdoor enthusiast to encourage and support others in her community in discovering what the outdoors has to offer. In her free time, she enjoys climbing both indoors and outdoors, reading, birdwatching, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is excited and grateful to work with Women’s Wilderness, an organization whose values are deeply meaningful to her. The mission inspires her not only to see her own potential in the outdoors, but also to help ensure that people from all communities have the opportunity to experience these spaces.

Lex (she/her) is a SoCal girl at heart who has worn many hats in the outdoor space. She has a background in geology, professional guiding, non-profit work, policy advocacy, community building, and almost all things cycling. Some of her favorite moments outdoors include climbing a volcano in the Chilean Andes, experiencing an earthquake & tsunami in Iceland, close calls with grizzly bears while salmon fishing on Kodiak island, bikepacking in the Great Smoky Mountains with an all-Black affinity group, and creating an outdoor retreat event for BIPOC. Now based in Colorado, she uses these experiences, among many others, to inform her support of Women’s Wilderness programs and operations, and takes any opportunity to mesh her knowledge of the earth with her passion for being active outside in order to break barriers to the outdoors for others.
