Peak Ready Hike: Eldorado State Park

Registration Deadline: Sunday, May 24, 2026 @11:59pm MT
Course Description:
Women’s Wilderness is thrilled to team up again with Lifes2Short Fitness to offer a series of challenging conditioning hikes designed for women and non-binary adventurers. Peak Ready hikes are focused on providing participants with distance and elevation change to support aerobic fitness, as well as a community to support social networks and positive relationships.
Whether you’re training for Lifes2Short’s Adventure Retreats, including Kilimanjaro 2026 Hike Adventure Retreat and Andes to Amazon Hiking Adventure, or simply seeking a challenging day hike with a supportive, like-minded crew, these courses are for you!
Our third 2026 Peak Ready hike will have us exploring trails in Eldorado State Park. This 11.5-mile out-and-back route starts at 6,085 feet in elevation, and will peak at 7,337 feet. What this hike may lack in maximum elevation, it makes up for in total elevation gain–over 3,000 feet! The hike is designed to strengthen both physical and mental endurance. Women’s Wilderness will be by your side, providing expert guides, trail safety insights, complimentary gear rental, electrolytes, and healthy hiking snacks.

⛰️ Activity level: This route is rated Intermediate, and it’s best suited for hikers with experience on longer outings, variable weather, and meaningful elevation gain. Over the course of the day, we’ll climb roughly 3,000 feet across 11.5 miles. Because the out‑and‑back includes both ascents and descents in each direction, your body gets to train for a full range of terrain throughout the day.
➕ Included: Professional and experienced guides trained in wilderness medicine and route finding, light breakfast, snacks + electrolytes, complementary gear rental – including clothing, trekking poles, microspikes, and backpacks
What to Wear & Bring:
Registered participants will receive a detailed hiking checklist, including guidance on what to wear. We recommend bringing a daypack with a 22L to 30L capacity to carry water, snacks, lunch, and extra layers. Additionally, we recommend carrying ½ liter of water for each hour we’ll be hiking (suggested amount is 3L (100 ounces); we will have a water refill opportunity around mile 8.5).
