DONOR ADVISED FUNDS

WHAT ARE DONOR ADVISED FUNDS?

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a tax-advantaged charitable giving account — DAFs are often compared to a 401(k) for retirement savings or a Health Savings Account (HSA) for healthcare expenses.

WHY GIVE THROUGH A DONOR ADVISED FUND?

One clear advantage of a donor-advised fund is its flexibility, which is built right into its structure. The donor gets an immediate tax write-off for the full eligible amount of the contribution.

Yet they can actually disburse the funds whenever they wish. It’s also easy to divide their grants among different organizations as they choose. Many donors choose DAFs because of how easy and inexpensive they are to establish and run, especially compared to a private foundation.
