Women’s Wilderness, based in Boulder, Colorado, invites you to become part of a vibrant and supportive community as a member of our Board of Directors.

About Us

At Women’s Wilderness, we create outdoor adventures that inspire courage, self-discovery, and resilience. Our nonprofit organization serves women, girls, and LGBTQ+ individuals, offering programs that connect people to the outdoors and each other. We believe everyone deserves access to the healing power of nature, and we’re looking for compassionate leaders to help us expand our mission.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for individuals who care deeply about uplifting others and want to contribute their time, skills, and heart to making a lasting difference. Our ideal board members will bring diverse perspectives, a love for the outdoors, and a commitment to fostering inclusion in all that we do.

We Would Love to Hear from You If

• You have familiarity with our wonderful organization, and reside within the Boulder/Denver area.

• You’ve been part of our Women’s Wilderness family, as a former participant, alumna, or parent of our OG (Outdoor Girls) or GLFL (Girls Lead for Life) programs, or you feel connected to our mission and values.

• You live locally and are excited to attend Board meetings and events in Boulder.

• You’re well-connected in the Boulder/Denver area, with strong ties to local networks (like women’s professional groups, LGBGTQ+ efforts, CU Boulder, or other organizations).

• You work in or have experience in the outdoor industry, wilderness education, or similar fields.

• You have expertise in Wilderness Medicine and a commitment to cultural competency and inclusivity in health and safety.

• You have experience in risk management, especially in outdoor settings, or legal knowledge that could support our nonprofit.

• You’re passionate about land stewardship and uplift tribal leadership in conservation.

• You have connections to the media or press to help us share the story of Women’s Wilderness and our work.

Informational Sessions

We would love to connect with you! Join us for one of our upcoming online informational sessions to learn more about this opportunity. You’ll get to meet current Board members, hear about the responsibilities of the role, and ask any questions.

• September 18th from 8:30-9:30 AM (MT)

• September 25th from 12:00-1:00 PM (MT)

How You Can Make a Difference

By joining our Board, you’ll help guide Women’s Wilderness as we continue to empower individuals through nature. You’ll play a key role in shaping our programs, ensuring our financial health, and expanding our reach to underserved communities. Your voice will help us create a more inclusive, adventurous, and supportive world for everyone.
